Tickets bought on-line will be sent their wristbands three weeks in advance to the name of the person and address on Pay Pal receipt unless you advise is differently. Please specify the name of each ticket holder, for each type of entrance ticket in the comments section of the payment submission form. Lost or misaddressed tickets will incur an administration fee. Bring your Pay Pal receipt to the festival as proof of purchase in case of lost wristbands. Tickets are non-refundable unless the festival is cancelled; however they can be transferred to another person or used at a later Festival in the event of a medical emergency supported by a doctor’s letter.
Fans in the J.R.R. Tolkien community are very warm and very friendly people. We really want to encourage festival attendees, performers and exhibitors alike to to get out there and mingle with everyone on site at Festival in the Shire. No matter what age, status, culture or level of Tolkien fan you are, we want you to get out and meet other like minded fans and make life long friendships that will continue for years to come. Whether you come alone or in a group you will be with friends. We feel that a successful Festival in the Shire will be one where a supportive and caring atmosphere is fostered for all involved.
Note: FitS will not under any circumstances tolerate any bullying, antagonistic or threatening behavior to any of our attendees, staff or anyone on site. We will have professional security staff 24 hours throughout the event. Offenders will be ejected from the site with no refund and banned from future FitS events. We want to create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere on site so we would encourage other festival attendees to report any anti social or hostile behavior to our staff who will promptly deal with it.

Festival in the Shire will be the most comprehensive event ever held for the fans of J.R.R. Tolkien. Featuring a Conference, a Collector’s Exposition of original art, rare books and memorabilia as well as a large Festival with stalls and a variety of entertainment. The different entrance prices are geared toward different levels of interest; from beginners to experienced. There is also a 3-DAY VIP Pass, which gives access to all of the events at a substantial discount. Please make your selection from the options below. The general Festival is for general or new fans with shopping stalls, food, entertainment, activities and music all day and into the evening. Tickets on the door are £20 for Friday & Sunday and £25 for Saturday. Pay in advance by PayPal and get a further £5 off - prices £15/ £20. There is also a 3-day pass option available at £35.
There is a family ticket offer of one day family pass only £35. Please designate the day on the receipt. This is for two parents and up to three children under age 16. If the family wants to come all three days, tick the three-day £75 festival family pass. For each additional person over 16 in you group click once for each ticket option to add it to your shopping cart. If you make a mistake, you can edit your shopping cart before check out.
There are no combinations for the family ticket which include the other festival elements. Tickets for the other festival element must be purchased separately. Contact us for big family or group discounts on 3-day VIP passes.
Prices are the same for adult or child. Mix and match entrance tickets for each member of your group interests.

The Conference is aimed towards more experienced fans and J.R.R. Tolkien scholars. Tickets in advance are £190 for the 3-day conference at the discounted price (£250 on the door). These prices include general admission to the Festival, but not to the Collectors Exposition.

3 Day VIP Supporter Tickets
This very special VIP package was created for the most discerning of Tolkien fans and the most dedicated supporters of Festival in the Shire. As a VIP you will be supporting all the artists, craftspeople, speakers, exhibitors, performers and staff that make up Festival in the Shire. Your contribution is extremely important and will ensure the continued success of Festival in the Shire over many years to come. Your name will also be listed on our Festival in the Shire website as one of our devoted supporters.
VIP Supporters will receive
- Priority entry to all elements and aspects of Festival in the Shire.

- Our first 100 VIP supporters will receive a special invitation to our ‘VIP Only’ party on Sunday 15th of Aug in the Bellevue Hotel in Aberystwyth. The guest speakers and artists from the Festival will be in attendance and this will allow you, as a VIP supporter, to meet with them in a relaxed atmosphere. Parking
For security reasons, all vehicles on-site and overnight must have a parking pass or will be removed. Passes are not transferable as the number plate is needed. Day parking will be available on site, and then off-site nearby when on-site fills up. A car park permit will be issued at a cost of £5 per day if purchased in advance or £8 per day at the gate. Please specify the number on the pay pal note area. (The car price applies to motorcycles also). Parking for caravan, van, mini-van and truck/lorry is £15 per day in advance, £25 on the day. This also applies to RV/camper vans etc just parking for the day but not camping overnight. You need an RV camping ticket if parking overnight. There is a limited amount of disabled parking. Please reserve in advance on info@festivalintheshire.com Click icon once for each parking pass per day, thus if coming for all three days, buy three tickets. Parking charges on the day are higher and may not be available on site. Please note- you must have a valid entrance ticket to book parking passes.
Please designate your registration number for the parking pass. One vehicle parking pass is included in the camping charge, but we ask you to travel together where possible as parking space is limited. This is also beneficial to the planet.
Camping
The venue is set amid the picturesque Mid Wales countryside and to help you enjoy the whole experience more, there will also be onsite camping facilities for tents, RV’s, caravans & Sleeper Vans. Camping is available from the Wednesday night, check out Monday. Longer term camping is available nearby if you want to make a Wales holiday of your visit, please ask. We are offering Premium Riverside tent pitches at £20 per person per night (very limited please email info@festivalintheshire.com) or on-site tent pitches at £15 per person per night. Both types are positioned alongside the actual venue and include access to the venue shower & toilet facilities. Note- family tent camping is £45 a night for two adults and three children under 12. It is adult prices for each person over 12 years of age. The cost for RV’s, caravans & Sleeper Vans will be £45 per vehicle per night and they will also be alongside the venue & have access to the venue shower & toilet facilities, but no hook ups will be available, sorry! We expect there to be a wonderful atmosphere with so many devotees in one place, so please don’t leave it until the last minute to book your space and be disappointed. Cheaper off site camping will be made available after the on-site camping fills. Click the payment icon once for each person/camping pass per day, thus if 3 adults are tent camping for all three days, click nine times- 3 x 3. On-site camping charges on the day are higher, but are unlikely to be available on site. We are already selling camping tickets. Please note- you must have a valid entrance ticket first (or be a performer or exhibitor) to book camping passes.
Private Coach/Bus service
There will be a private Festival Shuttle Bus Service between Aberystwyth Railway Station and the Festival, mornings and evenings. The time table for this service will be released nearer the Festival & the cost of the journey per person will be £5 per trip (each way). There are many mini-cab/ taxi services in the area but these are more expensive. You need tickets in advance to use the bus service. Coach/ bus rivers will not be able to accept payment so you need to buy passes in advance or at the Festival. Tickets will also be available at the Bellevue Hotel. Please note, it would be a great help if you let us know that you will be using the bus service so we can plan how many buses and trips we need. We do not at present plan to run a bus service from other locations, however we can if the demand is there. There will be public buses and numerous private taxis from other locations.
